The St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival
The Thames Festival 2012 was held on the 8th & 9th of September, the closing weekend of the London 2012 Games. It also marked the Mayor's and the City's final celebration of an event filled summer.
St Katharine Docks hosted a selection of classic and historic vessels within the central marina, some of which opened to the general public to enable them to have a hands on experience. The London area Sea Cadets took part for the first time with their information stand in Marble Quay alongside the gourmet food market, they also provided PT displays and Kayak demonstrations throughout the weekend.
The Rivers of the World exhibition spaned the River Front and Marble Quay from 18th August until 10th September, the exhibition is the flagship art and education project of The Mayor's Thames Festival.
Throughout the weekend a free river taxi ran from St Katharine's Pier to Festival Pier to enable the general pubic to commute freely between The St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival and the rest of The Thames Festival.
