The St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival
The St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival welcomed over 40 classic and historic vessels througout the 2013 event.
Dates for our 2014 event will be posted shortly.
A massive thank you to all the vessels that took part in this year's event, our fifth year was a great success. New for 2013, we hosted guided walking tours of both the marina, incorporating vessels of interest, QRB Gloriana and Havengore as well as a historic walking tour of St Katharine's lead by local historian Chris West, all of which were a great success.
Also new to 2013, as the Thames Festival expanded to encompass two weekends, St Katharine Docks enhanced the Classic Boat Festival to cover both weekends with a themed approach. Our first weekend focused on "Working on Water" engaging visitors with vessels that are used to support our services and individuals carving out careers working on the water. The second weekend was a celebration of "Dunkirk Little Ships" which were highlighted through one off tours led by the commodore of the Association of DLS.
Throughout both weekends the Sea Cadets provided information and demonstrations including performances from the band of Sutton (London Borough). An array of food stalls from the St Katharine Docks Good Food Market provided gourmet food to go along the St Katharine Docks River Front and a seletion of craft stalls were available on Marble Quay alongside the Massey Shaw stand, providing information on the restoration of this historic fire boat.
