Urban Fishing Match
St Katharine Docks Urban Fishing Match
Wednesday 5th October 2011
The second Annual Urban Fishing Match took place at St Katharine Docks, Centre Basin, on Wednesday 5th October, 9:30am - 3:30pm.
This year was an even bigger and better affair, and was filmed exclusively by Sky Sports for Tight Lines.
Several internationally renowned professional Anglers were pitted against one another in an effort to catch the heaviest aggregate haul of fish from within the Docks.
2011 Competitors:
James Cooper • Mick Bull • Andy Pell • Tony Curd
Adam Rooney • Ali Hamidi • Elliot Gray
Situated right next to iconic landmarks Tower Bridge and The Tower of London, the beautiful business environment of St Katharine Docks is the last place you'd expect to see this typically rural sport enjoyed, but the Marina contains some excellent specimens of carp, perch, bream and roach, and is expected to contain some record sized fresh water fish.
St. Katharine Docks is very protective of the welfare of the wildlife on the estate, and only grants fishing licences to professional anglers taking part in the one day competition. As a result, this remarkable location is comparatively unknown to anglers; making it far more of a challenge and a prestigious opportunity!
The 2011 Winner was James Cooper, beating the 2010 Winner Mick Bull to take home the stylish and much coveted St Katharine Docks Urban Fishing Match Trophy.
Last year's competitors included:
Wendy Lythgoe-Clark • Alex Bones • Mick Bull
Lewis Murawski • Tony Curd • Steve Ringer • Ali Hamidi

The Rules
Our rules are very simple, but designed with the welfare of the fish in mind;
1) No pike or zander (any of these to be put back immediately as they do not count)
2) No bait limits
3) Any humane fishing method allowed
4) Barbless hooks only
5) All fish to be safely returned to the water
At the end of the competition, the catch will be weighed and the Angler that has the heaviest catch is declared the winner, and takes home the prestigious Urban Fishing Match Award.
