St. Kats Honey Tasting
This month, we will be hosting a very sweet event on the Tuesday 23rd of October at leading Asian fusion restaurant Dokke in celebration of National Honey Week 23rd – 29th October.
Luxury private island specialist Neil Wager who is owner and Head Chef at Dokke is offering a mouth-watering honey-inspired menu for one night only, cooking with locally sourced St Katharine Docks’ honey from our very own bee hives. The dishes bound to get your taste buds buzzing will include:
- Honey & Miso Cured King Orkney Salmon
- Honey Szechaun Pepper Beef Short Ribs, Cooked 48 hours
- Vietnamese Garlic Chicken, Beansprouts with Honey & Soy Walnut
Guests will also experience a unique honey tasting and talk from St Katharine Docks’ chief beekeeper, Camilla Goddard. An expert in her field, Camilla is a beekeeper all over London and teaches beekeeping at institutions such as University College London, amongst others. Looking after 70 hives, from Greenwich to Brockley, she has been bee-keeping for the past 12 years – that’s the life span of four generations of Queen Honey bees or 96 generations of bee workers!
Located on the top of International House at St Katharine Docks, the hives enjoy a unique riverside location with phenomenal panoramic views. For this reason it could be said that it’s the perfect ‘bee penthouse’, making its rich honey so distinct, with 50 types of pollen in the honey creating rich floral undertones and caramel infused sugary goodness.
