St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival

This weekend marks the return of the St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival, a true London boating spectacle not to be missed.

Despite recent stormy weather, 47 beautifully preserved vintage vessels have gathered in the historic central and west basins. Tomorrow at 10:30 AM, the festival will open with a salute of horns, welcoming visitors to explore the pontoons, admire the boats, and meet their dedicated custodians.

Highlights include the famous Dunkirk Little Ships, classic Bates Star Craft motorboats, traditional Thames Sailing Barges, and other remarkable working vessels, among them, the Queen’s row barge Gloriana and Sir Alec Rose’s Lively Lady.

Now in its 16th year, this free event offers more than just boats. The SKD Events Platform will host fascinating talks from maritime experts, while the festival atmosphere continues ashore with delicious food, live entertainment, and nautical antiques on Marble Quay.

This year also sees the welcome return of yachting legend Tom Cunliffe, who will share stories, insights, and launch his latest book. Other speakers include representatives from the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships, Lively Lady, the Thames Vintage Boat Club and historian Adam Taylor.

Festival Opening Times

  • Saturday 6th Sept 10:30-5pm
  • Sunday 7th Sept 10:30-5pm
